  • Average distance from Sun: Its average distance from the sun is 1433449370 kilometers.

  • What is the surface of the planet: It is gaseous. It contains gas.
  • Atmosphere: Saturn is 75% hydrogen, and 25% helium.
  • What was the planet named for: It was named for Cronus, Greek Titan.

Although there has never a mission to Saturn there has been three probes that have flown by Saturn one being the Pioneer II in 1973, the Voyager I in 1977, the Voyager II in 1977, an Cassini in 1997. The goals of the missions were to discover more about Saturn and its atmosphere.
